State Systems to Launch Sprinkler Division for Middle Tennessee Market

Memphis-based total protection company State Systems Inc. has hired Stephan Phillips to launch a fire sprinkler division at the company's Columbia office to serve a Middle Tennessee customer base.

After acquiring Columbia Fire Equipment in March 2016 and the Thompson's Station-based Community Fire Safety Systems in January, State Systems is bringing an important service offering to customers in the Middle Tennessee market.

As sprinkler division manager for Middle Tennessee, Phillips will coordinate staffing, lead sales, and manage design and installation projects.

He brings 35 years of experience in the industry, having served in positions across Tennessee, Georgia and Florida with companies including SimplexGrinnell and Grinnell Fire Protection.

Phillips is a member of the Tennessee Fire Sprinkler Contractors Association, where he is the current chairman of the training and education committee. Among other certifications and licensees, Phillips holds a level three certification in water-based systems layout from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies and is a qualified Responsible Managing Employee for fire protection sprinkler systems in the state of Tennessee.

"As our customer base in Middle Tennessee continues to grow through acquisition and expansion, it makes sense to bring our expertise in fire sprinkler systems – something we've been doing for a long time in Memphis – to customers in this area," said Bob McBride, CEO of State Systems. "I believe our customers can rest assured that they are in excellent hands with Stephan's leadership over this new division in Columbia."

State Systems provides a full offering of fire sprinkler system services, including design, installation, inspection and repair that follow National Fire Prevention Agency regulatory requirements.

Fire sprinklers are recognized as the single most effective method for preventing the spread of fires in early stages and are critical to preventing severe injury, death and massive damage to property. For more information about State Systems' fire protection services.
